For May's ‘meet the team’ profile, we sat down with Laura, who joined the team in September 2021 to head up our 'Stay at Summerdown' offering.
Laura's earlier career in interior design and managing small building projects made her the perfect choice to take on responsibility for launching and overseeing our stunning shepherd's huts on the estate.
She's also a very talented artist and was responsible for the beautiful watercolour illustrations on our website and in the shepherd's huts.
What's your favourite Summerdown product?
The room diffuser, it fills a room with the relaxing aroma of peppermint & lemongrass instantly!
What's the most interesting fact you've learnt whilst at Summerdown?
That we’re B Corp certified, a reassuring recognition that people and place are prioritised.
Favourite place on the farm
It’s got to be the meadow where the shepherd’s huts are located, especially in July when the wildflowers are in full bloom and literally buzzing with bees, bugs and an abundance of wildlife.
Favourite food
Most Italian classics, my favourite has to be spinach and ricotta cannelloni.
What do you most enjoy about working at Summerdown?
Working alongside a great team and spending each day being surrounded by nature.
And the worst part?
Navigating the farm track potholes.
Spring, summer, autumn or winter?
Summer, I love colour and so when all the wildflowers are in full bloom, there is a sea of bright colours across the farm and shepherd’s hut meadow - it makes me smile!
Box set or cinema?
Box set, so that you can get thoroughly stuck into a good storyline.
Home cooked food or a takeaway?
Home cooked food for sure, my husband Andy cooks delicious meals.
Beach or mountains?
Tricky one, beach if the sea is warm, but a mountain-top view always rewards the effort it’s taken to reach it!
