Meet Will

In the next instalment of our Meet the Team series, we’re excited to introduce Will!

Will joined the sales team at Summerdown after studying History and Politics at the University of Exeter, which included an exchange year at Deakin University in Melbourne. A passionate advocate for all things local, he was drawn to Summerdown’s commitment to sustainability, agriculture, and provenance.

During university, Will gained valuable experience working in hospitality and events, including the G7 meeting in Cornwall and the United Nations Climate Change Summit in Scotland. With his enthusiasm for connecting with people, he’s the perfect person to meet our stockists, hospitality partners and consumers in person.

At Summerdown, Will is responsible for bringing our range of chocolates, teas, and body, bath and home fragrance products to independent farm shops, stores, pubs, inns, restaurants and hotels - helping more people experience the magic of Summerdown.

Favourite Summerdown product?

Hard to say, I love the teas and chocolates, but the product I use every day without fail is the Shower Gel.

Most interesting fact you've learnt about Summerdown since joining?

The estate was once home to William Warham, who was Archbishop of Canterbury in Tudor times and performed the wedding service between Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon. There is a clocktower located on the farm which has survived since his time.

Favourite place on the farm?

Opposite the farm and office is a large field where we grow lavender, and in the middle of that field is an airstrip and hanger. A flying club of retired men keep a large collection of 1920s biplanes in the hanger which they have restored from scratch. They say that the landing in between our rows of lavender is one of the most beautiful they have ever seen.

Most frequently asked question from stockists?

Other than price? Probably wanting to see and know more about the farm and what has been created here at Summerdown, and when they can visit!

Favourite place in the UK for lovely independent shops?

There are so many fantastic towns in Cornwall for small, independent and sustainable businesses, who thrive from British tourists choosing to visit there and helping the local economy. Falmouth, St Ives and Fowey are just a handful.

Favourite hotel you've stayed in?

I was lucky enough to visit Singapore a few years ago as it was the city where my parents got engaged, and we stayed in the Marina Bay Sands. Although I was only young so sadly wasn’t able to explore the mini bar

Place you've never visited in the UK but is on your next target list for Summerdown?

I’ve never been to Northern Ireland, and I have always wanted to go there. I’ve met some great people from Northern Ireland at uni, and I’ve always promised to go and visit them.

Best part about working for Summerdown?

The views of the farm and landscape from the office and the country lanes surrounding Summerdown, especially when the sun sets right outside my window.

Worst part about working for Summerdown?

Misjudging the range of the Summerdown electric car while visiting clients and having to sit in a random car park waiting for the battery to charge.

Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter?

Summer for sure, when its warm the UK is the best place in the world

Pub, restaurant or street food?

In Britain: pub, in Europe: restaurant, in Asia: street food.

Favourite food

Sunday roast at home, it was the meal I missed most when I was away in Australia, and it’s an impossible feeling to replicate.
