Notes from the Summerdown Farm
Notes from the farm
A day in the life of a farmer is never dull...so in the first of our ‘Notes from the farm’ blogs, we caught up with Summerdown Farm Manager Ian to find out what he’s been up to.
Well the good news is, the rain hasn’t stopped him and there’s been plenty to do.
There was an open day for other Farmers to come and take a look at the trial crops we’re planting on the farm, whilst a very different job was hosting a presentation about our lavender and mint to the local Women’s Institute!
You may have heard about our partnership with the international charity Plantlife?
As part of our conservation initiative, we’ve been planting flower crops for bees, and conservation wild flowers this week for ground coverage.
And feed crop for birds.....
And not forgetting that all our packaging and fulfilment is done on site, here’s Cathy loading packaging for the body, bath and home range
But Ian’s greatest excitement last week was probably the arrival of his new toy –the brand new crop roller!
Ian’s off for a short break now before Harvest mayhem sets in - and then it's all about harvesting and distilling our unique Black Mitcham mint
