We're delighted to share some exciting news: Summerdown has been recognised with two Great Taste Awards this year, for our Dark Chocolate Peppermint Creams and our Peppermint Dark Chocolate Crisp Bar. Both products earned a coveted 1-star rating from the Great Taste judges, one of the most respected accolades in the food and drink industry.
Dark Chocolate Peppermint Creams: 1-Star Winner
Our peppermint creams impressed the judging panel with their bold minty character and quality dark chocolate coating. The judges praised the fondant centre for delivering a satisfying, fresh peppermint punch, and noted the chocolate's smoothness and slight florality alongside a hint of Kendal mint cake. They described the finished product as dark, richly minty and long-lasting on the finish, with the bitterness of the chocolate and the sweetness of the mint striking a genuinely balanced note.
Peppermint Dark Chocolate Crisp Bar: 1-Star Winner
Our crisp bar also earned a 1-star award, with judges highlighting the clean snap and crisp texture of the chocolate alongside the well-judged, moreish combination of chocolate and mint. They singled out the crystals running through the bar as a clever textural detail, and called out the quality of the chocolate itself, noting that the mint was expertly judged so it enhanced rather than masked the flavour of the cocoa. One judge summed the bar up as a refined and intelligent creation.
